Parents Helping Parents was created in March 2005, by members of the former Rockland County TOUGHLOVE® group in New York. The group adopted the name Parents Helping Parents because it describes perfectly what the group is all about. In August 2005, Parents Helping Parents became a non-profit corporation serving the lower Hudson Valley region of Rockland County and northern New Jersey.
In January 2006, an independent support group located in Westchester County New York, (also formerly known as TOUGHLOVE®), joined Parents Helping Parents, Inc., bringing their own ideas and experiences with them, but maintaining their meeting place.
PHP is supported by members’ weekly donations, by community and private donations, through fund raising efforts by members, and with grants.
